If like us, you are fans of Quick and Big Volvo estates, you will realise how rare this car is. All V70R’s are appreciating in value, if you can find one, manuals are climbing faster!

Here at QuickandBig.com we are absolutely delighted to offer for sale, this fantastic super rare, UK registered, 2003, Volvo V70R 6 Speed Manual, the Holy Grail of Hot V70’s.

The V70R is a very special Volvo model, spawned back in the mid 1990’s, in the era of Volvo campaigning 850 T5 estates (affectionately known as the Flying Wardrobes) in the British Touring Car Championship. We are lucky enough to have a Gull Yellow Manual 850 T5-R saloon, and Pearl Green Manual 850 T5-R estate also for sale. Years of on-track development later, and an on-road design brief rumored to have been to create an estate car that could hold its own against the BMW M3 of the day. All contributed to this the final version of the iconic V70R, with, 2.5 litre, 5 cylinder, turbo charged, 300bhp / 400nm of torque, Haldex all-wheel drive, switchable 4c suspension, Brembo braked, 6 speed manual, sleeper estate, with a price tag in today’s money of over £65,000 plus extras!

The manual “R” can dispatch 0-60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, and go on to a limited 155mph, quick enough to surprise the un-educated now, but rocket ship quick back in the “noughties”!

The V70R, Volvo’s road rocket, was rare when new, and UK registered examples sendom come onto the market. Geartronic autos are rare, but Manual’s really are like hens teeth. It is understood that Volvo bought less than 100 V70R Manuals to the UK, there must be less left now! They like many other contemporary track inspired cars are appreciating rapidly in value. You know when cars values are shooting up, because it becomes economical for importers to bring them back from Hong Kong / Japan. The importers can’t even find manual cars. For the much more common Geartronics the importers are now asking up to £16k, and that’s for a non UK spec car, with foreign language history, and dash board!

In short if you are in the market to invest in a piece of hot Volvo history, buy the best, original UK, car you can find. I believe we are lucky enough to the only UK registered Manual R’s on the market. We do also have a low mileage Geartronic R also in preparation.

MC53CSZ was registered on 1/10/2003 (lower road tax than the later examples). It has had only 3 previous owners, and covered a below average 130,949 miles.

These iconic machines were only available for 4 years (many people don’t even know they exist), sadly in 2007 the V70R was replaced by the Phase 3 V70, and the hot “R’s” were regrettably lost forever! Volvo choosing to replace the iconic “R” with the softer” V70 T6 Geartronic with “only” 285 bhp. It was almost a full decade later in 2014, with the V60 Polestar (which are still £25k + today) before Volvo produced another estate car that was as powerful or quick as the Manual V70R!

Throughout its cossetted life, it really has been comprehensively maintained, in its original service book there are 14 entries (most at Volvo main dealers and specialists). It was last serviced at 130,299 miles, and we have just had the cam belt replaced at 130,949 miles.

Its MOT history backs up its mileage as genuine. Its most recent test was passed with no advisories and does not expire until April 2025.

We have just had the optional 18 inch Pegasus “R” alloys professionally dipped, stripped and re powder coated, they are lovely and sport, 235/40/18 tyres, with new fronts and matching rears with 6mm of tread.

Presented in Titanium Grey Pearl, we have just had it almost completely resprayed to remove 20 years of dinks, car park scrapes and stone chips, it looks lovely! The interior is presented in Nordkap (Blue) full leather interior, with brushed aluminium trim. Even the centre console, cup holder lid is has been replaced!

Standard equipment was lavish on the V70R, including, 6 speed manual transmission, front / side air bags, inflatable curtains, whip lash protection, ABS, stability and traction control, active chassis with comfort, sport and advanced settings, cruise control, auto climate control (nice and cold), memory power drivers seat, Bi-Xenon head lights, 4 x electric windows, puddle lights, rear cargo / dog nets, rear arm rest and headlamp wash / wipe.

Our manual “R” in addition has the following options: 18 inch Pegasus alloy wheels, electric heated and folding wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, HU-803 in dash 4 CD multi-changer, sat nav, telephone, roof rack rails, and rear spoiler.

It’s only modification is the addition of a stainless steel cat back exhaust system, with a nice 5 pot burble, but not intrusive.

The “R” comes with full book packs, including the rare “R” leather wallet, spare wheel, jack and tool role, 2 working keys with remote boot release and original mats.

It will have an independent 90+ point pre delivery inspection, for the new owners benefit. It is of course HPI clear and a full HPI report will be available to potential purchasers.

Many thanks for wading through our lengthy description, we believe it’s better to describe our cars fully. It is not in our interest to waste your time or ours with inaccurate descriptions. It does of course have the odd age related imperfection (which used car doesn’t), but for its age it really is excellent.

This Manual Volvo V70R really does tick all the QuickandBig.com boxes, being great value, quick, big, well presented, perfect for a family, well maintained, super rare, and appreciating in value.

Our iconic Volvo V70R Manual is a rare opportunity. Don’t kick yourself in 10 years time that you didn’t buy it, (like I do every day about the 2 Sierra Cosworth’s I broke to build kit cars!)

Please visit the photographs and our terms and conditions again as they form part of the description, and use the “contact us” tab at the top of the page, to arrange a viewing / test drive by appointment. Any inspection is of course welcome. Part exchange particularly if its quick, big or unusual is a pleasure.
